Pava LaPere Killing: Suspect Jason Billingsley Arrested
The suspect in the death of a young tech entrepreneur in Baltimore has been arrested, the authorities said, after a dayslong manhunt.
Jason Billingsley, 32, who was identified on Tuesday as the suspect in the killing of Pava LaPere, 26, was taken into custody in Bowie, Md. just after 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, the U.S. Marshals Service in Baltimore said on social media.
The death of Ms. LaPere, who founded EcoMap Technologies, a company that curates data for free platforms, shocked Baltimore’s business community, which heralded her as a promising businesswoman. She was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 List for social impact earlier this year.
Mr. Billingsley was considered to be armed and dangerous, the authorities said on Tuesday, after they found Ms. LaPere dead on Monday. Mr. Billingsley is listed as a registered sex offender in the Baltimore County Department of Corrections.
The Marshals Service did not provide additional details about his arrest. The Baltimore Police Department did not respond to a phone call and an emailed request for comment early Thursday.
This is a developing story.
