Charli XCX Is Bringing ‘Brat’ to Storm King Art Center

Charli XCX’s Brat tour is making an unexpected stop this Thursday at Storm King Art Center, a popular sculpture park in New York’s Hudson Valley.

“nyyyyyyy I want to play my new album : ) shall we go upstate?” the pop star asked her 6.4 million Instagram followers on Tuesday. The post was accompanied by a link that led to a minimal (and expectedly green) web registration for a 3 p.m. DJ set—her new album, played in full—at the beloved sculpture park in New Windsor.

Note the fine print: an RSVP doesn’t guarantee entry. An email will be sent to confirmed guests, so stay vigilant (and please be at least 18 years of age, per the event’s terms).

That’s all the info provided. It’s anyone’s guess where in the 500-acre outdoor museum Charli will spin—maybe atop one of the rolling hills that offers a splendid sweep of a collection, which includes two colossal Mark di Suvero steel abstractions and 18 sky-high sculptures by Alexander Calder.

Sick beats aside, the event offers a good chance to check out recent work by Arlene Shechet that’s currently installed on Storm King’s grounds. Romantic and materially robust, structurally unyielding but painted in a variably glossy and matte palette of baby blue, firelight orange, and electric blue, these new sculptures should provide a nice backdrop to Charli XCX’s music.
