Map: Tracking Tropical Storm Arlene

Tropical Storm Arlene has formed off the coast of the Florida panhandle. Forecasters believe this storm will be short-lived. It is expected to drift slowly southward after meandering around the northern Gulf of Mexico. Read our coverage here.

Most of the effects of this storm have already been felt along portions of the Gulf Coast, with heavy rain falling Friday from Louisiana to Florida. Rip currents have also been a risk for beachgoers as the wind from this storm has created dangerous water conditions. These hazards are expected to subside as the storm moves away from the United States.
